Conformist

We are natural born entrepreneurs radically stifled by process.
We are natural thinkers with corporate autism as our diagnosis.
We are militarily educated to simply crush all our individuality.
We are hemmed in, reduced, convinced this must be normality.

Stare into this corporate water and feel your spark slowly drown.
As air leaves your lungs, weighty process is dragging you down.
Pressure building on your eardrums and tightness in your chest.
Organisational depths, deeper and darker, fears now manifest.

For we are gently cast aside in this hostile sea of due diligence.
For we are confirmed robotic, individuality the main expense.
For we are now conformist, we are follower, we are automaton.
For we are now assimilated, indoctrinated, thus way too far gone.

Makes me think that ...

The impact of industrialisation, globalisation and bureaucratisation has been extensively documented. The paradox that an increased focus on individuality has heralded increased uniformity is increasingly understood. Changes in the nature of work have made very a significant contribution to its dulling effect on a significant proportion of the population. In 'Conformist' Loot articulates some of those impacts.
